Design Method
Spring clean your website!
With the arrival of spring, it certainly has put a ‘hop in our step’ at Pelling.
If you’re feeling inspired by the change in season, it might be a good time to revisit your website and ask yourself if you are doing all that you can to not only attract new customers, but convert them too.
Having a website is a crucial way of remaining at the forefront in an increasingly competitive online market. Intuitive and impressive design means the difference between a good website and a great website, and we only build great websites!
With online marketing rapidly changing, it is imperative to keep up with current trends and tactics to ensure you give yourself the best tools to optimise your success. This is why we believe it’s important to keep your website fresh, interactive and above all have an outstanding design.
What we’re doing
We like to practice what we preach, so are currently running an A/B test (otherwise known as Split Testing) on our homepage, comparing the performance of our current design against 2 new designs. The main objective of this test is to identify a design that has higher levels of visitor engagement.
There’s many metrics you can use as an indicator of engagement, such as average time spent on the site, bounce rates, pages viewed per visit, etc… After some careful consideration, we decided that the most important metric in our case is the bounce rate. That isn’t to say we will completely disregarded the other indicators – we will just place a little less weight on them.
We will post about the results once they have been finalised. In the meantime, here’s a link to view the variations for those of you who are curious! You can switch between the 3 versions via the blue navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
Is your site mobile-friendly?
Another big consideration when reviewing your website is to ensure its mobile friendly. More and more people are accessing websites from their mobile phones. Desktops designs are specifically for desktops, and if accessed through mobile phones, your potential clients may face several problems, which can instantly turn a user away. You can check if your website is mobile friendly by going to Google Mobile-Friendly Test Tool page.
