National Butcher’s Week
With it being National Butchers Week, we thought we’d catch up with Simon Taylor, Owner of Award winning Surrey Hills Butcher’s in Oxshott. Simon came to Pelling three years ago when he first acquired his butcher shop as he wanted to create a fresh new brand, along with a website and other marketing material to help him really engage with his customers.
What’s great about Simon is that there is more to him than just a butcher, he is passionate about his job and really knows how to market his business to its fullest potential. Although Simon’s main focus is being at the forefront of his shop and meeting his customers, he doesn’t stop there. Marketing has always been key to Simon’s business and the way he goes about it is fantastic!
As well as having a website packed with recipes, news, events and a photo gallery, social media plays a huge part in Simons marketing agenda. From speaking to his customers, Simon identified that people were really keen to learn more about the skill of butchery and how they can prepare at home, so social media seemed like the perfect platform to demonstrate this. Simon regularly uploads content to YouTube, Instagram and Facebook with interactive “how to” and “top tip” videos which have proven to be a great success not only with his local customers but on a much larger scale. One of his most popular videos “how to tie a butchers knot” reached a whopping 2.5k views.
In 2015 Simon’s passion for business didn’t go unrecognised, winning “Butcher of the Year” at the Surrey Life Food and Drink Awards and also runner-up in the South East Butcher Shop of the Year Awards.
Simon is always thinking of new ways to connect with current and potential customers and sets a great example of modern day butchery and the power of online marketing. So this goes to prove that whether you are a butcher a, baker or a candlestick maker there are no limits when it comes to promoting your business.
If you are looking at new ways to market your business in Surrey then please do get in touch. We would love to help.
